Ukraine peace talks gain momentum as US and Russian officials meet in Abu Dhabi

• US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll is holding meetings with Russian officials in Abu Dhabi about a proposed plan for ending the war in Ukraine, a US official told CNN.
• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky could visit the US in the next few days to finalize a deal with US President Donald Trump, according to a senior Ukrainian official. Zelensky earlier said he and Trump would discuss “sensitive issues” in the 28-point US peace proposal.
• Russia though could reject an amended US peace plan to end the war in Ukraine if its terms are “fundamentally different” to the understanding reached during the US-Russia summit in Alaska, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
• Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine traded deadly strikes overnight, killing at least seven people in Kyiv. NATO fighter jets were scrambled in Romania after at least one Russian drone entered its airspace.
